STAAR OVERVIEW
  • STRUCTURE & RIGOR
    • STAAR: State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness--> Testing program
      • 76 questions; 68-Assessment/8- field test
          • 8000 BCE-1750: 18 questions
          • 1750-present: 20 questions
          • Geography & Culture: 10 questions
          • Government & Citizenship: 10 questions
          • Economics, Science & Tech: 10 questions
          • Skills will be integrated into at least 30% of the questions
      • Negative qualifiers in questions: not, except--> not bolded or underlined
      • Skills and Content are integrated
      • Questions may have multiple data inputs: maps, graphs, readings etc
      • Readings may be longer (could be as long as a page, but no more)
      • Multiple questions per stimuli (map, chart, graph, reading)
      • Chicago Style/Turabian documentation style
      • 4 hour time limit (students with extended time will most likely get it)
      • State accommodations will be applicable for STAAR/EOC
